I am a registered massage therapist and body worker.
I use a wide range of massage techniques and therapeutic interventions to work with you on easing your pain or discomfort to improve your health, sense of well being and quality of life.
I use a wide range of massage techniques and therapeutic interventions to work with you on easing your pain or discomfort to improve your health, sense of well being and quality of life.
I use therapeutic touch to illuminate areas of the body where you carry your stress and tension and I work with sensitivity and kindness to help you relax, release the muscles, ease pain, and improve the flow of energy and freedom of movement. I also use Soft Tissue Release and Muscle Energy techniques to target specific areas of muscular tension and pain.
Formerly a registered general nurse, I worked for 25 years in the NHS where I gained a reputation for commitment to quality of care and professionalism.
I completed my Diploma in Therapeutic Massage in 1991 at The Glasgow School of Holistic Medicine whilst working as a nurse in Edinburgh. I subsequently held a number of nursing posts in general and cardiovascular critical care and haematology and I have also worked in Germany, Finland and The Middle East. During these years I integrated massage treatments into my nursing care. After completing my Masters Program at Lancaster University and achieving my ambitions within the NHS to work in London at an executive level, I decided in 2010 to return to Edinburgh and to therapeutic massage and body work where I could help people 'hands on' within a complimentary therapy environment.
I have regular undertaken further study in The Body Master Programme with John Gibbons, Oxford University Sports Clinic. www.johngibbonsbodymaster.co.uk
My interests include cooking, golfing, cycling and Nordic Walking. I enjoy working with clay to produce the odd pot, bowl or plate too!
